In this follow-up video, we continue the barrel and screw replacement process on the MA1600 machine, diving into the detailed steps needed to complete this task. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced operator, this video provides crucial guidance to ensure a safe and smooth replacement.
Steps 5-8 of Barrel and Screw Replacement
Step 5: Exposing the Heater Bands
With the barrel cover removed, we move on to exposing and carefully removing all heater bands. If only the screw needs replacing, you’d remove only the necessary nozzle bands, but for a full assembly change, all bands must come off. Remember to switch off and lock out the main power for safety.
Step 6: Labeling and Removing Heater Bands
We label each heater band before removal to ensure proper reinstallation. Using safe lockout procedures, the bands are spread and detached from the barrel with care.
Step 7: Removing the Feed Throat Components
In this step, we remove the thermal couples, cooling lines, and feed throat components to fully access the machine. Depending on the machine size, only the top cover may need removal, while larger models require the back cover off as well.
Step 8: Accessing and Detaching the Screw Coupling
Finally, with clear access to the back of the machine, we use a socket wrench to remove the screw coupling. The specific coupling type may vary based on the injection unit size, so we explain how to identify and handle each type.
