Steps 1 to 4 for Barrel and Screw Replacement
Preparation & Safety Gear
Gather necessary tools (e.g., hot gloves, protective sleeves) and set up your lifting device. Make sure to lock out the machine for safety.
Step 1: Remove the Purge Guard
Start by removing the purge guard with four Phillips head screws, detaching it to access the inner assembly.
Step 2: Detach the Barrel Cover
Unscrew the tray and covers on both sides of the machine. This provides access to the barrel and internal heater bands.
Step 3: Slide Off Barrel Covers and Loosen Heater Seals
On the non-operator side, remove the bottom barrel cover by sliding it forward. Loosen the seal around the heater cables and thermocouples by releasing the lock nut.
Step 4: Lift the Barrel Cover and Remove
With everything loosened, lift the barrel cover completely to access the barrel and screw assembly for replacement.
